About OBC
The Open Bible Church of Belvidere was founded in 1965 and is a member of Open Bible Standard Churches. We are a local church of Christ followers, fully committed to God, one another and the world around us. Our name sums up what we believe - that the Bible is the true inspired Word of God. We believe in applying what the Bible teaches us to our everyday lives. Our congregation is lead by Pastor Dan Pope. Our Mission According to the Bible
- Go: We communicate God’s love through EVANGELISM. (Matthew 28:19-20)
- Gather: We welcome people into God’s family of FELLOWSHIP. (Ephesians 2:19)
- Grow: We teach God’s people through DISCIPLESHIP. (Colossians 1:28)
- Give: We demonstrate God’s love through MINISTRY. (Ephesians 4:12)
- Glorify: We celebrate God for who He is yesterday, today and forever in WORSHIP. (Matthew 4:10)
We Believe
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
- We believe there is one God eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning sacrifice through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for salvation of the lost and sinful, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe the full gospel includes holiness of heart and life, healing for the body and baptism in the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto eternal life and they that are lost unto eternal damnation.
To Our Volunteers
It takes a lot of work to keep a church and all the activities going. A church is much more than one person - it is all of us working together to the glory of the Lord. Children's Super Church
Super Church is a fun, relevant and educational Sunday morning program for children from preschool through sixth grade. Our children are not only a part of the church of the future, but the church of today as they are involved in many of our church services and ministry outreaches.
